The Rocket vs Geronimo – Rematch – April 7th!

Tuesday, April 7th – 2015

Epic Billiards – Carson, California

April 12th – Match Update!

– Congratulations to Edgie Geronimo for winning this match, 15-25. It was a tough day for Rodney, who learned late in the match that his cue-tip was becoming spongy and after changing shafts it was just too little, too late. The playing conditions shifted continuously during the evening, with the front door of the establishment being opened and closed throughout the match, and heavy rain outside bringing moisture inside.

Drinking and celebrations commenced very quickly after the match, with Joven and Edgie’s ‘Despedida’ (farewell party).

Another great night of action on POV Pool! We are hoping to schedule yet another rematch between Rodney and Edgie Geronimo at the Golden Cue in July, when Edgie returns to Los Angeles!

Check out what’s coming next!

Rematch scheduled between Rodney Morris and Edgie Geronimo!

Stream starts at 6:00pm / PST on POV Pool!

Last week’s epic 10-ball battle at Hard Times Billiards was one of POV Pool’s best yet. Now we’ve just heard that tensions are mounting, yet again between Rodney “The Rocket” Morris and the soft-spoken gunslinger from Bulacan, Philippines, Edgie Geronimo.

Hard Times vs Epic Billiards – Very Different Rooms

The 10-ball action match, which took place at Hard Times Billiards on April 2nd ended in a victory for Rodney Morris of 19 games to 12 and was played on much different conditions than the ones being proposed for Tuesday’s rematch. The Gold Crown II’s at Epic Billiards are not as tight and Kamui_logoBlack-webthe tables play a lot slower. Epic’s square footage is only enough to host 6 full-sized tables as opposed to Hard Times, which has 26 tables, tighter pockets and a somewhat more humid atmosphere than Epic. Also, Epic Billiard’s clientele are almost 60% Filipino; there will be HUGE local support for Edgie and this could raise concerns as to whether or not ‘The Rocket’ can take the heat during a long race to 25 with all the excitement going on.

And what of Joven Bustamante?

Well, guys? We don’t really know what’s going to happen with Joven Bustamante. He defeated Vilmos Foldes in a race to 18 games on Thursday, but alas, Vilmos will not be present at Epic Billiards to answer back this time. There is talk of bringing in some backup to play Joven – A few names, like Chris Robinson, Sal Butera and Beau Runningen have been thrown around, but POV’s main focus will be on the headliner match. Spectators are welcome and there is no cover charge to watch. The live stream will be free for all and should start at 6pm / PST.

Please join us for live coverage! Andy Cloth

  1. could not stay up to watch end of 10 ball match last night, with Rodney and Geronimo , race to 25, who won? what score?? tks

    1. Edgie caught a gear and beat Rodney, 15-25. Rodney had some major issues with his cuetip as well, not to mention the playing conditions; i just don’t think he could fade it.
