Hard Times Billiards, Bellflower / October 7th, 2012

1st Sunday Tournament, Live Stream and POV ‘raffle’ to be held!

Be sure to tune in and check out action once again for So Cal’s best monthly 9-Ball tournament from Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower run by Tournament Director Marie Lim.

Chuck Markulis Warmup!

Many of So Cal’s top professional players are expected to attend this 1st Sunday event which will also serve as an excellent warmup for the upcoming, ‘Chuck Markulis Memorial Tournament’ taking place just a few days later at Hard Times Billiards in Sacramento. Bellflower’s table #1, also known as ‘The Devil Table’ has seen some phenomenal action by POV Pool this year, featuring matches with top ranking players such as Oscar Dominguez, Scott Frost, Francisco Bustamante, Dennis Orcollo, Shane Van Boening and Raj Hundal just to name a few.

Nick Spano and Johnny Kang split 1st & 2nd

Let us not forget also, the Hard Times ‘hard hitters’ who, on any given day could give the pros a run for their money, especially on ‘The Devil Table’! Last month’s 1st Sunday event, left the pros hanging out to dry to up and comers like, Johnny Kang, Beau Runningen, Nick Spano, Steve Chaplin, Zeke Morrisson, Fach Garcia and believe it or not, ‘your’s truly’ – Daniel Busch. Johnny Kang has most certainly become a force to be reckoned with at the 1st Sunday events, taking 1st place for the month of August and splitting 1st & 2nd place with Nick Spano for last month’s September event.

Be that as it may, this upcoming October’s live streamed event should be a doozy with the expected turnout of hopefuls preparing for the Sacramento event, beginning October 11th, starting with $1,000 Added One-Pocket and leap-frogging into the 9-Ball portion of the event on October 13th.

POV Pool Raffle!

For those attending the event at Hard Times Billiards, POV Pool will be raffling prizes which will include, an ‘El Diablo’ Break Jump Cue ($250 Value), Max Eberle’s ‘Powerful Pool’ DVD Set ($99 Value), Virtual Pool 4 T-Shirts ($25 Value) and a Kamui Tip Voucher ($25 Value).

APA News! 10-BALL Teams Now Forming In Orange County, CA

 – The American Poolplayers Association –

Largest Amateur Pool Organization forming teams for the Fall Session

ORANGE COUNTY, CA ((September 11, 2012)) – The APA Pool League, sanctioned by the American Poolplayers Association (APA), is now forming 10-Ball teams throughout Orange county in California under the guidance of franchisee Victoria Wade.

“We are excited to bring this groundbreaking format to the area. 10-Ball has never been offered in the APA. We are the first league area to bring this complex game to our players. We hope that players, new to the APA and existing, of all abilities, novice to advanced, will join. Pool is a great way to have fun while getting to know new people.” said Wade.

Each 10-Ball team consists of three to four non-professional players who compete seasonally in weekly league play. By participating in weekly league play, members can qualify to compete in the 2013 Masters Local Team Championships and ultimately qualify for the 2013 Masters National Championship that awards a $10,000 first place guaranteed cash prize every year in Las Vegas, along with paid lodging at The Rivera Hotel & Casino and tournament entry into the event.

The Fall Session 10-Ball Division will run for 12 weeks with 2 weeks of playoffs on Tuesday Evening at 7:30PM beginning September 18, 2012. Weekly fees are $30 per team. A yearly membership will be collected from each new player in the amount of $25 prior to league participation. This is a traveling division where players can choose their home location from any bar or pool hall in our franchised area.

The APA, based in Lake Saint Louis, MO, sanctions the world’s largest amateur pool league, known as the APA Pool League throughout the United States, as the Canadian Pool League in Canada and as the Japan Pool League in Japan. More than 270,000 members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9-Ball league play. The APA is generally recognized as the Governing Body of Amateur Pool, having established the official rules, championships, formats and handicap systems for the sport of amateur billiards.

The APA produces three major tournaments each year—the APA National Team Championships, the APA National Singles Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championship—that, together, pay out nearly $1.5 Million in cash and prizes annually. In 2010, the APA National Team Championships were recognized by Guinness World Records as the “world’s largest pool tournament.”

The APA and its National Championships are sponsored by Pool Dawg, Aramith and Action Cues.

For more information or to get signed up with the APA, please contact the Orange County APA at 714-674-7665 or by email at Or you can visit the Orange County APA website at

Raj Hundal Wants Revenge!

It’s Not Over Between Raj and Oscar!

The word on the street is that Raj Hundal and Oscar Dominguez are negotiating a rematch to be played at a location which is very soon to be disclosed. There have already been 2 action matches between them playing 10-Ball, of which Oscar has been the victor.

The Stakes Are Raised

Obviously another re-match between these two giants would not be fitting at the same stakes as before. In May 2011, Oscar and Raj played races to 19 at the Cue-Club in Las Vegas for $2,500. Raj was defeated in both races, ending in scores of 19-12 and 19-16. Later that year in December, the stakes were raised to $10,000 per race to 25 games and was streamed, live to pay-per-view audiences. After the 3rd day of play, Oscar Dominguez reigned supreme, winning 2 out of 3 sets.

Now the fearless Raj “Hitman” Hundal is coming on stronger and higher at Oscar with a whopping $20,000 raise. A challenge that will turn up the heat and surely pack the house of any venue.

When, Where & How?

All we can tell you at this time is that the proposed date for this match will take place on November 2nd of 2012, and will last 2 or 3 days. The actual location of this match has yet to be decided, but we do know is that it will happen at a pool-hall and not in a studio. It’ll be somewhere in California at 1 of 3 possible locations, which will be disclosed within the next few days.

The format of the challenge is also being worked out, but it in order to play it out for at least 2 days both players are once again, discussing a 10-Ball game format possibly consisting of 13 or 15 multiple races to 11 games. The player who wins the most races at the end will be decided as the victor.

Live Stream? Of Course! Be A Part Of Pool History!

More information on this match will be reported as it develops. We do know that whatever the details on location, format and final dates, POV Pool has made a commitment to travel anywhere necessary to deliver a live streamed action match, using multiple cameras and up-to the minute news coverage of this event.

Be sure to check back frequently for late breaking news as we report all of the final touches on this late-breaking story!
